A Thought for Writers
A Thought for Writers
"There is no way of writing well and also of writing easily."
- Anthony Trollope

I'm working through several writing projects at the moment, and it's very easy to become discouraged or distracted. Writers block is ultimately either discouragement or distraction, and it's during these moments that it is most important to persevere. If creativity is an artist's gem, then perseverance is an artist's combat uniform.
Creatively gifted individuals that lack perseverance are bound by the lowest common denominator of their character. Discouragement and distraction are forms of mental slothfulness, which lead to a lack of action. This lack of action leads to further discouragement, thus fueling the vicious cycle.
So while you may feel mental sweat, laboring to make your mind think through alternate scenarios or methods of improving your work, keep after it. Determine the immediate next step to further your project, and act on it. You may be closer to a breakthrough than you think! One more thought, from a man uniquely qualified to make this point:
Many of life's greatest failures are people who did not realize how close they were to success when they chose to give up. - Thomas Edison
Keep your fingers moving and your minds engaged, gang.
