Storyboards #1

The storyboards are finally here, along with some information from Johnny Reighard. I hope you enjoy these following posts! And now ladies and gentlelman, Johnny.
"Dear Readers,

Storyboarding is the previsualization of a story before translating it into film...
...And that is the abbreviated description of what a storyboard artist must do.
Now, storyboarding is not hard at all when you get some practice, and practice is not hard to obtain. Really all you need is a proper template, a pencil, and at least some grasp of cinematography.

I'll leave all the teaching to Geoff and Isaac Botkin and just give you some of my thoughts on the storyboarding experience.

Storyboards #2

When I was first asked to storyboard, I was ready to shout for joy, because I had always wanted to work with John Moore and David Heustis (okay, not always, just a few years).
Then the fear began to set in. I was deathly scared that I might not have enough time to learn all the basics, or that my quality storyboard would look horrible.
However, though John & David might think it a setback, they didn't make Heartstrings for another year.

That gave me time to hone the drawing skill I had and become better. It was also relieving to find that John & David were nearly as new to this process as I was.

Storyboarding certainly helps in pre-production and production.
The rough edit of the animatic gave all the actors an idea of what the finished film would look like, while during production I carried the storyboards with me to keep track of the few props we would need.

The most fulfilling moment came when I watched the premiere at our church...

As I watched and saw the finished film, I felt a surge of pride rush through me as I realized that I had been a part of making this story come alive.

Heartstrings takes Double Awards at SAICFF!

God in his providence has allowed HeuMoore Productions to take two awards this year at the San Antonio Independent Christian Film Festival; the Best Young Filmmakers award, and the Audience Choice Award. Heartstrings is the first film produced by young filmmakers to take the audience choice award in the history of the SAICFF.

Thank you all for your prayers and support, we will try to get more information later!

For those who were unable to get a copy of Heartstrings at the festival, simply go to HeartstringsTheMovie.com and pick up a copy. It's the same deal you would have gotten at the festival, but you'll have to wait a few days for us to have films. The demand for DVD's was so high at the festival, we've already sold out our first run of DVD's. To God be the Glory!

We were also very delighted to see Colin Gunn's production 'The Monstrous Regiment of Women' take the Grand Prize Jubilee award this year! This is the first documentary to take a 'Best of Festival' award in the history of SAICFF. We are thankful for Colin's film and family; they are both favorites of ours.

Until later, Soli Deo Gloria!

Film Synopsis: Heartstrings!

Thank you all for your prayers and support!

(ever notice how the term 'moral support' seems to be phsycobabble for praying for someone? I wonder how that term originated...)

Dad and Mr. Heustis rushed the HeuMoore Productions submission package off just thirty minutes before midnight, bound for San Antonio. We now await the news (coming September 21'st) regarding semifinalist position.

And here is the film synopsis:

Heartstrings: Film Synopsis

The makers of Bubble Trouble are back with Heartstrings, another adventure in the Siblings series. During a family road trip, the Moores break down outside a bed and breakfast. Gator's sleuthing abilities find him in the middle of a secret treasure hunt, solving riddles and clues to a family mystery. The adventure, comedy, and drama of Heartstrings make this film a real treasure families can enjoy.

And there you have it. Heartstrings in a paragraph.

Our pros: A solid message with a very real, sober, and grounded feel, despite the childhood adventure themes.

Our cons: Poor production quality due mostly to incredibly short time frame (12 days to film, 9 days to edit a film which turned out to be 53 minutes and 30 seconds total), and a lack of humor due to cutting most jokes for the sake of length.

However, I feel that there are very few moral shortcomings in this films story; in Bubble Trouble, there were things I wish I had written differently. In What a Blast, there were major elements I wish were done differently. But Heartstrings I am fairly confident has a biblical framework within it.

More details later (and a production letter hopefully) to follow.

God Bless you all, thank the Lord for all his providences on this project when you pray tonight, and I hope to see you all at the film festival!
